We’ve been meaning to take the kids to the snow for years now & finally got around to it! Yay us!
I found a place online that turned out to be awesome! 20-30 min from Whakapapa Ski Fields, big enough for 2 families, great views & kid friendly (except maybe for the bunk bed the kids thought was their personal play area…ok for Master 4 & Niece 3, not so much Master 2 & Nephew 1!) But we survived without any broken bones.
Just after we arrived, we felt the earthquake (16 Aug) My first one, thankfully not that serious where we were but lasted a good 45-60 seconds (which is long when the earth is moving!) The 4 of us adults just stood staring at each other while the kids played on unawares (Yeah, not exactly what they drum into you on the TV about safety but it was pretty minor & we would’ve acted had it got any worse)
Sat was snow day & I the kids were beside themselves with excitement. We even got to ride the ski lift, which was an experience in itself! No photos of that for obvious reasons, what with trying to stop the kids from wiggling & losing their boots while we were so high up!
And then Hubby & his brother got into it…wish I’d got some better pics of that but I was trying to stay out of the firing line!!
It was then time for the adults fun….a beer (or coffee in the ladies case) at the bar. The kids were so well behaved…no sarcasm for a change! Although we did end up having to get lunch there too as the kids were starving (aren’t they always!?)
Master 4 was adamant he wanted to go back up to the snow so we headed back up, but this time just parked & played in the snow next to the parking lot.
We won’t mention the pile mountain of washing I’m still trying to get through…
