I have never made brownies before…ever! Shocking, I know, but I’ve seen how much sugar there are in recipes for them! And I’m a sucker for sugary treats, especially when they promise to be chocolaty & gooey too.
I finally caved & made a batch after seeing a recipe on pinterest. It took 5 min to throw together & 20 min in the oven. And OMG, they are yummy. Yes, I had a piece straight from the oven, quality control you understand. And some wayward pieces that didn’t quite make it into squares. And a piece for lunch…
Needless to say I’m about over sweetness for today!A plate of veges for dinner tonight to balance things a little I reckon. (Or not, the thought counts for something doesn’t it???)
I highly recommend it, although at your own risk ‘coz they are potentially dangerous for even the most self controlled of people.
I managed to get 10 large pieces & some “off cuts”. I plugged that into a recipe calculator & each large piece is about 390 calories…eeeeek. Definitely a once off treat! And it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t muck up something. True to form, I ran out of normal flour so had to use a bit of self-raising flour & I used baking soda instead of baking powder as I grabbed the wrong box. This last oops was because I was trying to simultaneously put everything into the bowl while swotting Master 3’s hands away from dipping into the dry ingredients & licking his fingers, as well as trying to save said bowl from taking a flying leap off the counter as he laughed maniacally. And then there was Master 2 flying under the radar picking at the butter sitting too close to the edge of the counter & declaring it “yum, cheese”, geez that kid is a silent ninja! But, even after all that it turned out fine.
